Below Heisler Park is Rocky Beach. Named so for the clear difficulties a diver will experience when diving here in a surf environment. This beach gives you access to the beautiful kelp forests of Heisler Park as well as a nifty little drop off on the east side of the reef system.

A parking lot provides a little bit of parking, but the stairs are key to getting down to this beach. Use caution entering and exiting as the stairs can be washed out and pose a hazard to a fully suited diver. Y

You will also see beautiful sea lion in this area. Remember that you cannot approach them, so do not try to become a zoologist and end up in trouble with the lifeguards.  

When you head out on this dive, you'll run into a very healthy kelp forest. It is home to all kinds of sea life. Sometimes white seabass and tuna will pass by looking for food. This is also a great place to see a passing whale during the season. But, dominating on this dive site is the kelp. Rocks are strewn about and lie low while the kelp is prevalent and clearly in charge here.  

There are restrooms in the area. So, no need to travel far or "get in the water"! 

This is a protected area and in the no-take zone. So, no hunting is allowed. Use caution when entering and exiting the water. There is a life guard stand at this location.

For added safety, make sure you have a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB), a knife and an underwater light to check out the little critters hiding among the reef! 

This location is in the Marine Protected Area. You are not allowed to hunt here. 

At this location, you will find Lobster, Sheephead, Garibaldi, Senoritas, Bat Rays, Sand Bass, Sculpin and much, much more!
