Seal Rock, San Clemente, CA

San Clemente Rocks (not to be confused with San Clemente Island) is also known as San Clemente Seal Rock.

Outside the Marine Protected Area, this Seal Rock boasts a safe haven for many California Sea Lions. Though spearfishing may sound amazing at this location, you'd be competing in the food chain with multiple larger animals in the area. So, I would suggest you do your hunting on better grounds where the "locals" aren't interested in your food, too!

This dive site is also in the open water, which means wave action can get high and make this dive site a more advanced dive even with changing tides. Use caution when entering and exiting the water. There is no life guard stand at this location and entry is usually safely conducted by boats like the Riviera Yacht Charters

For added safety in a known boating channel, make sure you have a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB), a knife and an underwater light to check out the little critters hiding among the reef!
