Yes. That's a real photo of a wave at "The Wedge" - and that's a small one! This area is among the greatest surf spots in Southern California. So, there should be no need to discuss the fact that there may be surf at this location for divers!

The Wedge is also home to an abundant amount of ocean life considering that it can become unreachable at times. This makes the jetty area a prime fishing area when the waves are down. You'll find plenty of healthy species all along the jetty wall as well as some amazing visibility on a calm day.

With changing conditions, you will always want to use caution when entering and exiting the water. There is a life guard stand at this location. For added safety, make sure you have a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB), a knife and an underwater light to check out the little critters hiding among the reef!

This location is not in the Marine Protected Area

At this location, you will find Sheephead, Garibaldi, Senoritas, Bat Rays, Sand Bass, Sculpin and much, much more!
